My dreams

I don’t tend to have many dreams. One dream of mine is to have my shop, or even market stall, selling lots of lovely pretty things. It’s something that I’ve only ever wanted to do within the last year or so, and if im honest I think it’s achievable. The only problem in I have no idea where I would start!...maybe that’s something to look into.
I want a shop that looks like this and sells pretty little items..

Friends from the past.

Im so lucky, as 90% of my "friends from the past" are still my friends. The picture below is from 2002, and it is of me, my sister and my mates getting ready for a big girls night out. I must have only been 17/18 years old and can remember it like it was yesterday.

L-R
Melissa- Aka Mad dog or Mad Mel Ive known her since First school and have been buddy's ever since.

Natalie- Aka Bestie or Nat dog. Ive knew her since year dot. Also the best friend a girl can have.

Tasha- Natalie's big sister and the biggest former party animal I know! Every time I see the film "Human Traffic" I think of her

Stacey- Natalie and Tasha's little sister. She has got to be the BEST dancer I know, she can watch any music video and she can repeat the dance routine back to you off the top of her head!

And on the far right is little old me! (cringe)

D.I.Y - Easy Peasy Bunting

Eek! Its time for my first D.I.Y post! This Bunting is so so easy to make, you don't even need a sewing machine! Its very basic, single layer bunting, double layered bunting coming up soon!
What you will need is..

Material
Needle and thread to match your material
Scissors
Garden Twine
Pins

1.Cut your pennants. The ones below are around 20cm long and 16cm wide. When cutting, bear in mind that you will need around 2cm seam allowance at the top to attach them to your twine.

2.Measure your twine to your desired length. The one shown is 2.5 meters long, but you can make it any length you want (sorry about the awful picture, the dogs mauled the twine!)

3.Take your pennant and fold it over the top of the twine. Pin in place. You will need to leave around 10cm before this so you have room to add loops at the end. Sew your pennant onto the twine. You can either sew just below the twine so the fabric will move, or you can sew the twine to the fabric, so the pennant is sewed in place.

4.Sew all the pennants in place. When you have finished, take the end of the twine and make a small loop. This is so you can "hook" onto your wall. Yo can also add a button on the end of first and last flags to hook the hook around for a lovely finishing touch.

And... Voile! Beautiful easy make bunting! Here's one i made earlier (ha ive always wanted to say that!...

Beautiful! <3

A Favourite Memory

Me and my dad used to have a tradition of I had got back from school and had my dinner, we used to go and sit on the door step and watch the world go by.
We used to sit on the old leather foot stool we had and talk about what we had done that day. One day I can remember us having an argument about who loves each other more, I can remember him saying too me, “Danielle, I love you more than all the little rain drops in the world” <3 and I can remember saying back to him, “Daddy, I love you more than all the gains if sand in the whole world” He replyed “You win” and gave me a hug. Best memory ever. x

My Favourite Wardrobe Items

This one is hard! I have so many pretty things in my wardrobe at the minute and its hard to choose! So ive narrowed it down to 3 things I couldn't live with out!
1. Blue Flowery flowy dress.

This is actually from New Look. I brought it for when I went to Mexico last September but I forgot to take it with me and found it hiding in my wardrobe and haven't put it down since! I have wore it with leggings, tights and jeans and it's the most comfortable dress I actually own! I cant find the exact picture of it, but it is the same as this one, but navy blue, sorry guys, i cant fin a picture of it anywhere! :(

2. Grey Boyfriend Cardigan

I brought this about 5 years ago on a shopping trip with Mrs P to Fosse park and got it for a bargain £4. Needless to say its been on my back ever since and even with the couple holes in it courtesy of the puppy dogs, I still cant bear to throw it away!

3. Cath Kidston Box Bag

You all know im a tad obsessed with Cath! On my 26th birthday, my amazing boy brought me this gorgeous bag and matching purse. It was the best present I got and cheered me up tremendously! August had been such a crappy month and it was just the pick me up I needed!

My Siblings

I have the most amazing family and a lot of siblings - 5 in total!

I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Dale and Stuart from my Dads previous marriage
Andrew from my Mums previous marriage
Natalie from my Step-mums previous relationship
Becky from my mum and dads marriage

Christmas is exciting! Lolz

I love having a big family. I would like to say that im close to all of my siblings, but im not really. I am only really close to my sister Becky. Different to my other sib's, me and Becky have grew up and lived together since we were born, even when we moved to out of home, we moved together and lived in our new little flat until I met Luke and made the big move to Loughborough. I love her so much, she's my little sister and I always will. She now has her own little family, two little girls called Tia and Ruby and they are just amazing.
Sometimes I feel I didn't make the right decision moving away from my hometown and family to live with my Boyfriend, I miss them all so much and sometimes I really do pine for home. But ive been here for nearly 7 years and the way I see it is that if I really did want to go home, I would have already, right? My siblings are all getting on fine without me so I guess I did the right thing!

My Beliefs

I don't have any real beliefs, no religious ones i mean. Im not religious. I never have been and probably never will be.Why, i'm not too sure. I was never christened when i was younger and my parents aren't religious so i guess that's the reason.Don't get me wrong, i don't knock any one who believes in the man upstairs, but its never been something that I've thought or felt like i needed i my life.

I do believe in Karma. I've always said that it you do something bad or hurt someone, it will come back and bite you in the ass! Luckily for me, that has never happened to me, but i do know a few people it has happened to and it isn't very nice! I also believe in just plan old being happy, following your heart and doing what you feel is right. <3

Hobbies and Talents

I enjoy doing to many things, but my favorites are Nail Art, Craft/Sewing and playing Xbox and PS3

My love of nail art started when i took a Beauty Therapy course at college when i left school. I just loved it - i'm a typical girl, i love sticking gems on nails and painting pictures, and other pretty things on my friends nails.

Ive always been a "gamer!", ever since i was a little girl and played my first game on my Sega mega drive! I prefer RPGs to racing/fighting games and at the minute im trying to battle my way through Final Fantasy 13 on the PS3 before the new one comes out at the end of the month (Eek!)

Sewing and Craft is something i have only started within the last maybe 9 months. My first big project was Jodie and Ben's wedding (ive posted about it further down) and i absolutely love it. I find it so therapeutic to sit down with some pretty material and a sewing needle and creating something beautiful. Ive made lots of beautiful items for my friend and family, including hanging hearts, bunting, glasses and passport cases, make-up bags baby bibs and lots more. Ive also tried my hands at applique and made some beautiful items for my nieces Tia, Summer and Ruby-Dawn.

Right im off! im in the middle of preparing for my first D.I.Y post, eek! im excited!

My Best Friends

My True best friend Natalie, is my everything. Ive known her since i was about 5 when she moved on to the street where i used to live and we have been best friends ever since. When i first moved to loughborough, i found it really hard. Natalie had just started her family and i felt so out the loop not being there to see little Evan grow up,. Natalie married her boyfriend Aaron in Mexcio in september 2011 and it was one of the most beautiful weddings ive ever been too. It was so beautiful to see her in her dress, on a beach in mexico marrying her soulmate.

The thing i love about her most is that i can call her anytime and she is there for me, its like weve never been apart.

I love her <3 shes the best friend a girl can ask for xx

My definition of Love <3

Love - Dictionary Definition

1. A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward
a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive
qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.
2. A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom
one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance.

Love...to me it means having one person who means the world to you, its
the one person who is there for you no matter what, the one person who
knows how you feel and the one person who makes you smile and gives you
butterflies when ever you see and think about them.

I am so lucky to have this person in my life, we have been through a lot
together and he truly means the world to me. I love him dearly <3

I thought I'd throw the below definition in, because for some people,
this is what loves means (and because its hilarious)

Love -Urban Dictionary Definition

Love- nature's way of tricking people into reproducing

Homemade Christmas

This christmas (or should i say Last Christmas..haha..no pun intended) i decided to made handmade decorations for my tree. Id seen some lovely ideas on certain blogs and in some local shoos and thought, why not?

First off i started with some festive bunting which i decorated with ric-rac and mismatched red buttons. Instead of ribbon, i used garden twine to hang it with, which made it look lovely and vintage..
Then i decided to make a hanging "NOEL" sign for the tree. Seeing as the colours on my tree are silver, i decided to use pastel colours to tie in with them, Pink,Blue,Lilac and Ditsy print. After a lot of too-ing and frowing i eventually found a good size and the end result was lovely, completely unique an completely a one off :)
I apologise for the iphone picture, its a tad blury :S

My Childhood Dreams

When I was little I wanted so many different things..

1) To be either a care bear or She-ra

2) To marry a prince

3) To go to Disney Land in Florida

To be honest, if I think back there were so many things but the one that
really sticks out is that I wanted to be happy and find a lovely man to
look after me and grow old with. Luckily ive found him, and he makes me
incredibly happy so it's a win win situation :-)

My Parents

My parents are amazing, no actually they are the best i could ever ask for. They have both have been there for me since i can ever remember and have helped me through some difficult times in my life.

My Mum and dad divorced when i was around 13 and my mum moved to Liverpool to live with her boyfriend, and me and my sister lived with my Dad. At the time i couldn't understand why they didn't want to be together, but now i do. They just fell out of love and i couldn't see them together again because they literally turned into 2 different people.

My dad remarried his 1st wife and my brothers mum,Colleen and had many happy happy years together, until he sadly lost his battle with Cancer in August 2011.He always said she was his Soul mate, and i truly believe that she was and still is.

My mum has since got engaged to her boyfriend Dean and now lives on a Canal boat with him, she too is madly in love and wouldn't want it any other way :)

I love them both dearly, my mum is the one who got me into crafts (shes very creative) and also my best friend. I know i can call her at any time of day and she will be there for me no matter what.My dad brought me up to be the women i am today. Seeing his determination to beat cancer over the last 2 years makes me so proud. I miss him terribly but i know he is still here watching over me :)

A Cath Kidston Christmas

2011 was the year i became addicted to Cath Kidston. I had already received a lovely bag and purse of Luke and a iPhone case off a friend at work for my birthday and Christmas was no exception, unfortunately Luke and his Nana brought me the same present, so this was my chance to take advantage of the C.K Sale online and i found the most beautiful Sewing box with 50% off! I had been looking for one for quite a while so i definitely had to take advantage and make the ultimate Xmas purchase. I also got the new C.K craft book "Patch" which has beautiful applique projects in and also the materials to make either a cushion cover or handy shopping bag- tres excited to make this! I also got a min tape measure for my new box and some C.K Nail files off Jodie :) which i'm looking forward to using, although i kinda don't want to because there too pretty hehe.

The First Project- J&B’s Wedding

The First Project- J&B’s Wedding

Wanna know how it all began? Well..back in October 2010, my Lovely friend Jodie got engaged to her boyfriend Ben. They quickly set a date of 4th August 2012 and asked me to be one of there Bridesmaids (amazing as I had never been one before!) As friends do, we started trawling wedding blogs( especially rockmywedding! ) and found beautiful inspiration from the real weddings which had been posted there. It was when we were looking here when we got the “bunting” idea from. I offered my services and thought “well ive got around 18 months to make as much bunting as I can” so I put it on the back burner and kinda forgot about it (oops!)
One morning in May 2011, Jodie walked into work and announced that she had moved her wedding forward, to October that year! This meant I had 5 months to start the bunting! So with the help of Luke’s Auntie (who kindly lent me her sewing machine) and started Sewing!
In the end we made over 50 metres of bunting, and a few other bits too…

A ring cushion

Wrapped lots and lots of Jam Jars with ribbons and pretty purple material

Mini cake flags for the cupcakes

Mini bunting for the Edwards’s post box

And...Lots of pretty bunting<3

Over all this is when the creative bug really hit me, and is the first time I actually thought “this is what I eventually want to do as my job”. My ideal dream is to do this full time and make beautiful bunting and other handmade items for weddings/parties/gifts etc.

Maybe 2012 will be the year I finally achieve it? Who knows? Although im not too sure that Luke would be happy if I said im quitting my job to be a full time sewer! Dad did always say follow your dreams, this time I may just do it…
